Emma McKay is a master’s student at the University of Waterloo studying quantum thermodynamics. During their undergraduate at Waterloo, Emma co-founded FemPhys, a feminist physics organization aiming to build community by and for marginalized people in physics and to facilitate feminist education. In 2016, FemPhys and its cofounders won the Equity and Inclusivity award from Waterloo’s Equity Committee. Emma has participated in and coordinated other community projects including the Disability Advocacy and Community Alliance at UWaterloo. Their research and activism interests include feminist philosophy, intersections of activism and physics, quantum energy’s correlations, and disability justice.
